As an education consultant in the Fine Arts (dance, drama, music and visual arts), Marge Dickinson visits school districts, individual schools and regional offices of education and works with teachers and administrators to develop curriculum, scope and sequences, assessments (both forced-choice and performance -based) designed for the specific needs of the group. Help with structuring the work of the districts, help with writing grants is also provided. Workshops on a variety of subjects may be planned for one or more days, or a series of spaced workshops to complete the work can be designed to fit the districts professional development schedule. Dickinson is a former 25-year visual arts teacher who has worked in School Improvement for the past 10 years. She received her B.A. from Bradley University, her M.A. from Western Illinois University and has taught all ages from K-14. She has served as President of the Illinois Art Education Association and is currently editor of the IAEA Newsletter, the Mosaic. She has served as a member of Illinois State Board committees and was Fine Arts Team Leader of the Performance Descriptor project which may be viewed on the state board web site http://www.isbe.net/ She was founder and president of the Galva Arts Council, founded in 1989, and has served that organization as newsletter editor, membership chair and grant writer.
